Event in Edinburgh

The first Edinburgh multiplier event was held at the Museum of Edinburgh on 24th August 2018. Edinburgh’s Urban Timemaps 3D model was showcased to a specially invited group of learning and engagement officers in the heritage sector, digital humanities scholars at the University of Edinburgh, tourism scholars at Edinburgh Napier University, and architecture students. Twenty attended in total. Having listened to a presentation about the APPROACH project and inspecting the prototype, the group discussed their impressions of the model and the various ways it could be used for learning and engagement in the heritage sector.

Feedback on the prototype was overwhelmingly positive. The main takeaway was that the model needs more narrative, such as through developing the infoboxes with comprehensive teachers’ notes, and for the addition of layers showing locations of key events, transportation, typical clothing etc.
